With the Omicron variant of Covid spreading fast, the Government and health officials have encouraged everyone to get boosted.
However, with the Christmas period in full swing, bank holidays and all, some may be concerned as to whether this will put a stop to the rollout of jabs.
As of December 21, over two-thirds of eligible adults have received their booster jabs – that’s over 25 million people!
But if you weren’t one of them, and you’d like to be, here’s some information as to whether you can join the millions of booster people in the next few days.
Can you get a booster jab over the Christmas period?
If you’re looking to get a booster in England in the next few days, you’re in luck – the Jingle Jab campaign, courtesy of NHS England, is on hand to continue the vaccination process to keep as many protected as possible.
The rollout will also continue on Boxing Day, with 200,000 appointments made available across the three-day period, since Christmas Eve.
NHS staff and volunteers alike are administering the doses at local vaccination sites including town halls and local pharmacies across England.
In fact, the effort to get the nation boosted has spread as far as curry house MyLahore in Bradford, which this week became the first eatery to take part in the quest to vaccinate the public.
The director of the chain of restaurants, Ishfaq Farooq, said: ‘Alongside the NHS, we all have a part to play in the race to protect people from Omicron, which is why we’ve decided to put on this clinic for our customers, alongside the opportunity to talk to clinical experts so that they can get trusted information beforehand.’
In his final message before Christmas Day, prime minister Boris Johnson mentioned that getting your vaccine is a gift that families can give each other.
He told the nation on Friday (Christmas Eve): ‘Though the time for buying presents is theoretically running out, there is still a wonderful thing you can give your family and the whole country.
‘And that is, to get that jab – whether it’s your first, your second or your booster – so that next year’s festivities are even better than this year’s.’
