A pervert who bragged about raping a two-year-old child has been jailed for two years and eight months.

In harrowing conversations online with a fellow paedophile, Arthur Marsh, 48, claimed children were for sex and that he enjoyed making them scream.

He also boasted about living nearby a park where there were youngsters.

The horrifying offences came to light in 2019 after he shared an indecent image on Facebook of two girls aged around five or six.

While there was no evidence he had physically hurt children, police found a collection of pictures and videos of young girls on DVDs and a phone at his home in Graingerville South.

Judge Penny Moreland told him ‘this is truly, truly shocking’ behaviour’, adding: ‘You discussed sexual intercourse with very young children and the violent rape of children.

‘You boasted of raping (a two-year-old). I’m told that’s not true and I don’t know if it is but you boasted of that to further the conversation.

Newcastle Crown Court heard how Marsh had made 11,000 ‘systematic searches’ for indecent images (Picture: North News and Pictures)

‘You said “I could do with raping the f*** out of a child again”. You boasted of living near children and near a park and you said children were for sex and your pleasure was heightened when they screamed when you raped them.’

Newcastle Crown Court heard how Marsh had made 11,000 ‘systematic searches’ for indecent images.

When police seized his devices, they discovered pictures and videos, some in the most serious category.

He had also engaged in ‘extremely graphic’ conversations with two other users, including one with the username ‘younglover’.

Marsh, from Newcastle, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images, three counts of distributing them and possessing extreme pornography featuring a horse and a woman.

The pervert, who has 23 previous convictions from two decades ago but none for any sex offences, has since been diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening serious medical condition.

Andrew Walker, defending, insisted he had shown remorse and added: ‘He has struggled with mental ill-health for some time and lives a fairly isolated lifestyle.

‘He has been told he has a serious, life-threatening illness and he is shocked by that discovery.’

Alongside his jail sentence, Marsh, must also sign the sex offenders register for life and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for five years.
