Londoners jumped from their dinner tables as a massive thunderstorm boomed across the capital.

Thousands of people jumped out of their seats as the thunder crashed across the sky.

One person living in east London said: ‘I was in the middle of my dinner and I nearly fell out of my seat it was so loud.

‘It sounded like a bomb going off.’

Another person on Twitter said: ‘Am I the only one that heard that massive #Thunder and seen white flash in north London???’

The huge boom was followed by a massive downpour across the city, with thunderstorms rumbling on and weather warnings in place overnight.

Earlier today parts of the capital were left submerged with cars having to battle to drive through huge puddles.

The Met Office had a yellow weather warning in place until 3am this morning, but Londoners have also been told to brace for even worse downpours tonight.

Emergency services, including the London Fire Brigade this morning offered out advice for those hit by the flash flooding.
