The founder of the Wagner military group was also on a private plane which crashed earlier today, it’s been reported.
Dmitry Utkin, the founder of the private militia, is believed to have been a passenger on the jet which crashed northwest of Moscow at around 6pm local time.
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the owner of Wagner as well as the owner of the jet which crashed, was also reportedly on board along with six other passengers and three crew.
Prigozhin is now feared dead as he was on the plane’s passenger list – but it’s not clear if he actually boarded the flight.
Russian authorities say they have pulled eight bodies from the wreckage, but all 10 people on board the jet are feared dead.
A Wagner-linked Telegram channel has urged caution after reports that Prigozhin and Utkin were killed.
Grey Zone wrote: ‘At the moment, it should be borne in mind that NO ONE, except for the people who personally saw Yevgeny Prigozhin and Dmitry Utkin getting on the plane, has any information.
‘Not from any sources or other persons. And those who have, they will not say until the situation is clarified.’
