Mexican cartel abandons truck with tiger sitting in the back seat

A Mexican cartel abandoned their drug lord’s car in the middle of the road- but forgot about the Bengal tiger sitting in the back seat.

A convoy of cartel vehicles was spotted by members of a Mexican anti-drug unit in Sinaloa, north Mexico last Monday, and a ferocious gunfight ensued.

In Mexico, tigers are practically synonymous with drug cartels, and after spotting the huge tethered beast in the backseat of the car the soldiers knew they were dealing with narcos.

Following an intense shootout, the remaining gang members eventually fled the scene, leaving behind their vehicles, guns, ammunition and tiger.

Footage taken by a passerby shows the cartel member’s cars riddled with bullet holes.

But thankfully the tiger was unharmed, and is filmed sitting in the back of the car looking untroubled by the chaos surrounding it.

A government spokesman confirmed that a unit of the National Guard and the Mexican Army were in the area when they spotted the three trucks.

All three vehicles, the guns and the tiger were taken into custody.

The tiger ended up at Culiacan Zoo and was later transported to the nearby Ostok animal shelter.

It is not sure which drug lord the tiger belonged to, but staff from the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection said it is a juvenile aged between 11 and 12 months and in good health.

It was also apparently used to human company and was not aggressive.

The Sinaloa Cartel – formerly ruled by El Chapo – is often reported to be the largest drug-trafficking crime network in the world.
