Authorities in Northern California believe a 16-year-old girl who went missing after attending a high school graduation party at a rural campground may have been abducted.
Kiely Rodni, of Truckee, California, was last seen around 12.30am on Saturday while attending a high school party near the Prossner Family Campground, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said.
Over 100 teenagers and young adults were in attendance at the party, which was held at a campsite near Lake Tahoe and the California and Nevada border.
Rodni’s car, a 2013 silver Honda CRV has not been seen since the party Saturday, officials said.
‘We’re treating it like an abduction right now because we can’t locate her vehicle,’ the sheriff’s office told Fox News.
Rodni’s phone has also been out of service since the party, and the teen has been unreachable by friends and family.
The party was meant to be a celebration for seniors graduating from several nearby high schools in the Truckee, North Lake Tahoe and Reno communities, Rodni’s mother, Linsey Rodni-Nieman told Fox News.
Despite being 16, Rodni had graduated high school early this year, and did so with honors.
‘She has beautiful long blonde hair, tall and thin, vivacious and friendly, kind and compassionate,’ her mother said. ‘She is not the runaway type of kid.’
The night of the party, Rodni texted her parents around 12.15am to let them know she was heading back home. But according to her mother, no one in attendance has been able to verify they saw her leaving, nor could anyone remember when she left or say that they saw her car drive away.
‘Please just come home,’ her mother said in a video shared by the sheriff’s office on Sunday. ‘I want nothing more than to hug you.’
The devastated mother is asking party attendees to look through their photos for any signs of her daughter.
‘If anybody else out there, if you know where she is, if you know anything about where she might be, if you have any ideas or thoughts, please come forward and share them,’ she said. ‘We’re not looking to bust anybody else or get anybody in trouble, we just want to see our daughter home.’
Rodni has been described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 118 pounds. She has blonde hair and hazel eyes and a tattoo on her ribs of the number ’17.’ She was last seen wearing green Dickie’s pants and a black tank top. She has a nose ring and several other piercings, authorities said.
Her family is offering a $50,000 reward for her return. Placer County Sheriff’s Office has set up a dedicated tip line at 530-581-6320.
