Christmas shopping is infamously manic, but Tesco and the rest of the nation’s retail giants will be on hand if you need any last minute supplies before everyone downs tools for the festive season.
Whether it’s grabbing a late stocking filler for a family member you’ve forgotten about or suddenly remembering that you’re run out of gravy for the turkey, you might just find yourself having to do a panic dash to the supermarket.
Many shops will have different opening hours over the festive period, while others may close altogether for a few days to give their staff a well-earned rest – but when will Tesco be open over Christmas?
We’ve got all the information you need…
What are the Tesco opening times for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day?
Christmas Eve
Tesco kept hundreds of its stores open for 24 hours a day in the build-up to Christmas Day.
On Christmas Eve, hours vary across stores, with most Metro and Express stores open until 10pm, while most superstores close earlier – at 7 or 8pm, depending on where you are based.
As always, opening hours vary across branches, so check the Tesco website before heading out.
Christmas Day
Tesco stores will be closed on Christmas Day like most of the retail giants.
Boxing Day
Tesco’s largest supermarkets will be operating Sunday trading hours in England, open from around 10am until 4pm – although in some areas, including parts of Scotland and Wales, the larger branches will be closed on Boxing Day.
Tesco Express stores will be open across the country from around 9am until 7pm although this may vary from one place to the next.
To check when your local store is open over the festive period you can use Tesco’s handy store locator on their website.
