Disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will not face criminal charges from allegations that he kissed two women, including a state trooper, against their wishes.
There was evidence to conclude that Cuomo did act as the women claim, but Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah on Tuesday said she could not pursue criminal charges.
Westchester investigators had looked into allegations from a state trooper who served on Cuomo’s protective detail and another woman who met him at an event.
‘Our investigation found credible evidence to conclude that the alleged conduct in both instances described above did occur,’ Rocah stated.
‘However, in both instances, my office has determined that, although the allegations and witnesses were credible, and the conduct concerning, we cannot pursue criminal charges due to the statutory requirements of the criminal laws of New York.
While Cuomo appears to be off the hook for the unwanted kissing allegations from the two women, several other investigations on his alleged actions are still underway. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is in charge of one of the probes. In addition, there is a federal probe into sexual harassment allegations against the ex-governor.
