A hunt has been launched to find a man whose finger was found outside a block of flats in Southampton.

The man’s finger was severed off as he scaled a fence after getting trapped in a courtyard area, according to locals.

It’s believed he had been drinking and could have lost a lot of blood in the gory incident on Lower Bannister Street.

Anyone who knows the man is asked to come forward after the finger was discovered in a parking area.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘Officers are concerned for his welfare due to the trauma of what happened and as he appears to have lost a lot of blood.

‘Anyone who thinks they know who the man is should contact us on 101 and seek medical assistance for him.

‘We’d also like to hear from anyone who saw where he went after the incident.’
