A small private plane has crashed into a two-storey office building in Milan, killing all eight people on board.
The plane, which took off from Milan’s Linate city airport, was headed for the island of Sardinia, officials said. The crash occurred just outside a suburban metro station in San Donato Milanese.
Police said eight people died in the crash. They are thought to include the pilot, co-pilot and six passengers. According to reports, a boy was among those killed.
Neighbours reported hearing the sound of the aircraft hitting the building, which was empty at the time and being renovated.
Witnesses described several cars parked along street being set ablaze, but there were no other casualties reported.
Fire officials could not immediately be reached to confirm the nationalities of those aboard the plane.
However, reports have said they are believed to be French.
