A member of the Armed Forces has died in a ‘training accident’ at a parachute jump site.
The tragedy happened last week at RAF Weston on the Green in Oxfordshire.
A report from the Daily Mail suggests the servicewoman fell to her death from an aircraft after her parachute failed to open.
However, this version of events remains unconfirmed by the RAF.
An air force spokesman said: ‘We can confirm that a service person has died at RAF Weston on the Green.
‘Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues at this time.
‘The incident is being investigated and it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.’
RAF Weston on the Green is used to teach parachutists from the Army, Air Force and Royal Navy.
It used to be a Royal Flying Corps station but was redeveloped after World War I.
