A man and a woman in their twenties have died in a road accident after their van came off a countryside road.
Police are appealing for information as the circumstances of the crash remain a mystery.
Officers said the man, 24, was driving, while the 20-year-old woman was a passenger in the white Citroen Berlingo van.
The incident took place on the road from King’s Maeburn, a village 10 miles from Penrith, towards the B6260 near Drybeck.
The male victim was from Ashton-in-Makerfield, while the woman was from Golborne.
Their names have been withheld while their next-of-kin were informed.
Detectives want to speak to anyone who witnessed a van of this description in the area or who may have information on the incident.
