Evacuations ordered in Corfu after wildfires appear on latest Greek island

More Greek island villages and towns are in danger of being damaged by flames, after wildfires were reported on Corfu.

The country’s emergency communications service said several places in the north-east of the Ionian island were being evacuated as the blaze bears down.

People in Santa, Megoula, Porta, Palia Perithia and Sinies have been told to travel to the coastal village of Kassiopi.

The warning comes after devastating wildfires on Rhodes led to thousands of tourists seeking to get off the island as quickly as possible.
