A pensioner has been arrested on suspicion of murder after and elderly woman was found dead in her home.
The 77-year-old victim was declared dead at the scene in Ealing, west London, last Sunday, June 25, with a special post-mortem revealing she had suffered a fatal head injury.
Police attending the address following reports of concern for her welfare arrested a 74-year-old man there.
Scotland Yard said he was taken to hospital due to concerns for his health. The suspect and the victim were known to each other.
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are carrying out further enquiries to establish the circumstances.
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Reeves said:‘I know that local people will be shocked by this incident and additional foot patrols are being conducted to reassure the community.
‘Our colleagues from the Specialist Crime Command are progressing their investigation. One person has been arrested and we aren’t seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.
