A mum who disappeared on Mother’s Day has been found dead off a road.
Norelis Mendoza, 32, of Lindenwold, New Jersey, was reported missing by her family on Sunday.
She ‘left her mothers home (in) Jersey City expressing her love and that she would see her soon,’ states a GoFundMe page set up for her. ‘That was the last time that she was seen by a loved one.’
On Wednesday, the body of a woman was found by Route 440 in Bayonne, near the border with Jersey City. The victim was tentatively identified as Mendoza, WABC reported.
Medoza had a 1-year-old and 3-year-old child.
She was last seen on late on Saturday.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and police ruled Mendoza’s death suspicious. The cause and manner of death had not been determined as of Thursday.
Mendoza’s family told the TV station that they think she was a victim of domestic violence. They suspect that the father of her two children had a role in her disappearance and murder. Family members said the body was recovered near his home and that he had a restraining order and violent past.
‘This has been a senseless act of violence and her girls have been ripped from having their mom on this earth with them,’ states the GoFundMe page organzied by Thalia Mendoaz.
‘We are all beyond devastated and suffering.
‘Mother’s Day is a joyous time to celebrate and her girls and family will forever live through the pain of what happened on this day.’
Anyone with information on the death is asked to contact the prosecutor’s office.
The GoFundMe page had raised more than $18,000 as of Thursday afternoon.
