Huge fire breaks out near British tourist resort in Benidorm

A huge fire has broken out close to a popular British tourist resort in Benidorm.

Massive plumes of thick black smoke can be seen from all over the city following the blaze which started at around 4pm on Tuesday.

Holidaymakers looked on in horror from their balconies as the fire spread.

The flames tore through several plots in the Armanello district near the Pueblo de Benidorm market, SER reports.

It started in an open area close to some nightclubs littered with abandoned mattresses and other rubbish.

No injuries have been reported so far.
