The family of a girl who died after a freak accident at home say they ‘cannot come to terms with the loss of such a beautiful soul’.
Falaq Babar tragically passed away weeks after she fainted and hit her head in the bathroom at her home in Rochdale.
The 11-year-old started ‘complaining of feeling unwell’ following the incident and was taken to hospital by her parents.
A CT scan was carried out and Falaq underwent emergency surgery, but she later died, an inquest heard.
Her heartbroken family described her as a ‘beautiful soul’ who will ‘always stay in our hearts and thoughts forever’.
Falaq’s mum, Shazia Bi, told Manchester Evening News: ‘How lucky we were to have Falaq in our lives for a short time, but she has left us with so many memories and love.
‘We all cherished her, and she will always stay in our hearts and thoughts forever.
‘Mum, dad, and brother will never forget you. We as a family cannot come to terms with the loss of such a beautiful soul.
‘We love you, Falaq.’
An inquest into Falaq’s death was formally opened by area coroner Catherine McKenna on Tuesday.
Police coroner’s officer Ms Tracy Bunn said Falaq was admitted to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital after she started feeling unwell and was brought in by her family.
Ms Bunn said: ‘She began to vomit and became unresponsive.’
The inquest heard how Falaq died on March 18 last year, weeks after she had fainted and hit her head.
Forensic pathologist Dr Philip Lumb determined a provisional cause of death as a hypnotic anoxic brain injury.
Area coroner Ms McKenna said: ‘I am really sorry you have lost your daughter this way.’
A date for the full inquest will be fixed at a later date.
At the weekend, an 11-month old baby tragically died after falling ill while on holiday with his parents in Portugal.
