A man allegedly set a police station on fire and is still at large.

Police are searching for a man who approached the Southwest Community Police Station in Los Angeles with a shopping cart just before 11.30pm on Thursday. The man lit a fire and fled.

Images showed the lobby of the police station scorched and with broken windows and a blackened ceiling, walls and ground.

‘Due to an arson fire set last night, Southwest front lobby operations will be closed indefinitely,’ tweeted the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division on Friday afternoon, sharing several pictures.

‘Community members who would like to meet with an in-person officer or detective may visit any local station.’
