Police discovered more than two million methamphetamine pills hidden inside a crumpled pickup truck at the scene of a fatal collision.
The crash, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Tha Muang District of Kanchanaburi, central Thailand.
Police and rescue workers rushed to the scene where they discovered three men dead inside a severely damaged white Isuzu.
Authorities subsequently retrieved 2.1 million methamphetamine pills, bound in fertilizer sacks, from the vehicle.
The deceased were later identified as Ratthanon Wongseela, 34, Detnarong Khotrodkhueng, 37, and Anuwat Khotrodkhueng, 28.
It is believed that Wongseela was driving.
A fourth victim of the crash, Natthanicha Thanomchart, was discovered in a nearby Toyota. She had suffered serious injuries, and was transported to a local hospital.
Police believe Wongseela and the Khotrodkhuengs were heading to downtown Muang when they collided head-on with Thanomchart, who was traveling in the opposite direction.
The investigation into the crash has reportedly been widened to cover an alleged narcotics operation.
