The nation observed a moment of silence earlier this week, in honour of Remembrance Day.
Also known as Armistice Day, we fall silent on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, to remember the time peace was officially declared between the warring nations during the First World War.
Our silence, and the wearing of poppies, honours the lives of those who fought for their country.
But, in addition to Armistice Day, each year there’s a special service carried out on the Sunday after, called Remembrance Sunday.
This will be the first Remembrance Sunday under the reign of King Charles III, who will be present at the event. How can you watch Remembrance Sunday?
What time are the Remembrance Sunday commemorations?
As it has been done for more than one hundred years, there will be a two-minute silence at 11am on Sunday.
This will be followed by the service and wreath laying as the nation remembers all those from the UK and the Commonwealth who died serving their country.
For the first time as Monarch, King Charles III will lead the nation in the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Whitehall.
The King will be joined by members of the Royal Family, members across the Armed Forces, representatives for the Government and representatives of the Commonwealth and faith communities.
It’s reported that nearly 10,000 veterans will take part in The Royal British Legion March Past.
How to watch Remembrance Sunday
Coverage for the day will begin on BBC One at 10.15am and run until 12.30pm.
Viewers can also watch via BBC iPlayer, which will offer uninterrupted coverage of the events at the Cenotaph.
David Dimbleby will once again present the live coverage.
BBC’s Sophie Raworth will also be on the ground, talking with those taking part as they share remarkable stories of courage and sacrifice.
After the annual service from the Cenotaph, viewers can watch more Remembrance Sunday programming throughout the day.
BBC One will air a special Songs of Praise Remembrance Sunday special from 1:15pm.
If you miss the live show, you can watch a special highlights broadcast at 6:10pm on BBC Two, presented by Dimbleby.
