Kyiv is being shelled for the first time in months in what appears to be ‘revenge’ attack from Russia.
A number of people have been killed and injured in the strikes this morning, emergency services have said.
The blasts appear to be more central than previous ones during the brutal war.
Explosions have been reported in the city’s Shevchenko district, a large area in the centre of Kyiv that includes the historic old town as well as several government offices.
It comes hours after Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of an ‘act of terrorism’ over the explosion on Kerch Bridge, which connects mainland Russia and Crimea.
Ukrainian officials have not indicated that their forces were behind the attack, while an adviser to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has denied the allegation.
