It’s summer so you might be whisking the kids away for an all-inclusive, or you might have booked yourself a solo getaway for some peace and quiet.

Whether you love action-packed holidays or you’re a proud beach bum (might we direct you to these best beaches in the world), everyone likes crashing into bed at the end of a day with a good film or episode.

Which brings us to this commonly asked question – can you use your Netflix when you’re abroad?

If you’ve packed your laptop or your iPad and you’re hoping to keep up with the latest Riverdale or Stranger Things episode, here’s what you need to know about travelling with Netflix…

Can I use my Netflix account abroad?

Yes… with some caveats.

Netflix can be accessed in over 190 countries around the world, but your profile is connected to the country where you set it up.

So, when you travel around with an active Netflix account, you can still use Netflix. However, your choices for streaming and downloading will vary from country to country.

Also, My List and Continue Watching titles may not be available.

So, you might not have access to the TV show you were nearly finished with, or the film you had saved for another time, but, on the plus side, you might discover a local favourite instead and expand your cultural horizons.

Things to keep in mind when using Netflix abroad

As well as the catalogue of content being different, there are some important things to consider when using Netflix abroad.

For example, you might find that some content is more heavily censored.

If you’re in a country with more conservative values, for example, expect any content with nudity to be heavily censored – along with signs of drug use or even homosexuality, in some cases.
