A pair of pals took two days to return from the pub – because they drunkenly booked a trip to Ibiza.
Dan Evans and Alex Stubbs had been out in the town of Merthyr, in Wales, on Friday.
They’d started sinking pints in the afternoon, but promised each other they’d be home by 11.30pm.
A joking suggestion was made at one point that they should go to Magaluf in Majorca.
Dan and Alex, spurred on by Dutch courage, agreed there was no time like the present.
They called a taxi which took them home to pick up essentials, before they headed toward Cardiff Airport.
Dan said: ‘We stopped off at home to collect our passports and phone chargers, and then headed to the airport.
‘When we got there though the Majorca flight was fully-booked, but there was a flight to Ibiza, so we booked ourselves on to that one.
‘We literally partied the whole weekend, and then when the sun came up on Sunday morning we had to think about how we were going to get home.’
The friends had no hotel or return flight booked, but didn’t let that deter their trip.
They bought some shorts and headed straight to the Ocean Beach club, before heading onto a nightclub.
It was only the following morning when they started to plan their route home.
Dan added: ‘It was more difficult getting a plan back, but we sorted one, flew back into London in plenty of time to be at work on Monday.
‘It was a bit of a shock to the system, but it was all worth it.
‘We have no regrets and will probably do it again, but it might be a few years before we can do it again.’
Dan and Alex’s mad weekend was similar to that of Rachael Wynn in 2019.
She flew to Ibiza after getting ‘absolutely p****d’ at a Christening in Manchester and forked out more than £700 trying to travel back in time for work.
Rachael had arrived on the Spanish island around 9am, wearing the day before’s silky jumpsuit and carrying only her phone, bank card and passport.
Barely able to remember how she got there, she was forced to depend on the kindness of strangers, who gave her clothes and allowed her to shower and brush her hair.
