As it’s recently emerged, Boris Johnson has had no shortage of celebrations the past few years, and he also tied the knot with his partner Carrie Symonds in 2021.
The couple got married in secret at Westminister Cathedral on May 29, 2021, and had roughly 30 guests in attendance.
The nation’s leader is the first Prime Minister in almost 200 years to marry while in office. He is also one of the only other leaders to divorce while in the role, too.
Here’s everything you need to know about Boris Johnson’s previous marriages – and divorces.
How many times has Boris Johnson been married?
Boris Johnson has been married three times, with his third wife being his current wife, Carrie Johnson née Symonds.
His first wife was Allegra Mostyn-Own and the pair met while at the University of Oxford. The couple tied the knot in 1987 when they were 23 years old.
Allegra is the daughter of art historian William Mostyn-Owen and Italian writer Gaia Sevadio, who was reportedly against the marriage from the beginning of their relationship.
They divorced in 1993, after just six years together, and did not have any children.
The politician then married barrister Marina Wheeler and the pair had four children together.
Marina is the daughter of BBC correspondent Sir Charles Wheeler and his wife Dip Singh.
The couple’s marriage came to an end when the PM was reportedly spotted having an affair with his now-wife Carrie Symonds in 2018.
Soon after, the pair announced their separation, but the divorce was not finalised until May 2020.
Carrie was previously the communications expert who worked for the Conservative party until 2018.
The Tory party leader proposed in late 2019, and just months later the pair welcomed their baby boy Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson in April 2020.
Just over a year later, they walked down the aisle and were married in Westminister Cathedral in May 2021.
In December that year, they welcomed their second child and daughter, Romy Irish Charlotte Johnson.
