Sacramento police on Tuesday arrested a third suspect following the deadly massacre that left six people dead and 12 others injured over the weekend.

Daviyonne Dawson, 31, was arrested and booked on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, city officials shared in a press release.

Dawson was allegedly seen ‘carrying a gun in the immediate aftermath of the shooting,’ the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Officials do not believe the gun Dawson was carrying had been used in the shooting.

He is the third man arrested in connection to the deadly shooting that took place early Sunday morning in Sacramento’s downtown entertainment district.

On Monday, 26-year-old Dandrae Martin was arrested in connection to the shooting. A day later, his older brother, Smiley Martin, 27, was also arrested.

Hours before the shooting, Smiley Martin filmed himself on Facebook live brandishing a weapon. In the video, which was wiped from his account after his arrest, he can be seen pointing a black handgun at the camera.

The older Martin was one of the people injured Sunday. He was first taken to an area hospital before being booked into the Sacramento County Jail on Tuesday.

Last year, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office wrote a strongly worded letter in opposition of Smiley Martin’s release from state prison, the Chronicle reported.

Smiley Martin had been serving a 10-year-sentence that was handed down in January 2018.

Alleged offenses dating back to 2013 were detailed in the letter, which claimed that Smiley ‘has no respect for others, for law enforcement or for the law. If he is released early, he will continue to break the law.’

Smiley Martin was accused of ‘forcibly’ entering the home of a woman believed to have been his girlfriend and hitting her on her face, head and body ‘repeatedly’ in 2017.

He pleaded guilty to two felony assault charges before he was sentenced to 10 years in state prison. He was released on probation in February of this year.

Smiley Martin was booked for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a machine gun. His brother, Dandrae Martin, was booked for assault with a firearm and for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Neither of the three men arrested have been charged with murder or manslaughter and it’s unclear if police believe any of the men were the shooters. City officials have said since the weekend they believe there was more than one shooter responsible for the attack.

Three men and three women were killed in the crossfire. They’ve been identified as Johntaya Alexander, 21; Melinda Davis, 57; Sergio Harris, 38; Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32; Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21; Davazia Turner, 29.
