Four teenagers allegedly slashed a New York City subway rider who confronted them after one of them stepped on his foot.

The unidentified 48-year-old man was on a northbound B train around 4.20pm on Wednesday when he encountered the group appearing to be around 16 and 17 years old.

One of the teens stepped on the man’s foot as the train moved, and an argument ensued, according to the New York City Police Department.

The group of teens proceeded to punch the man in his face and arms and used an unknown sharp object to cut up his forehead, police said.

After the attack, the teens got off the train at the Cathedral Parkway-110th Street station in Morningside Heights and fled

The victim was transported to BronxCare Health System for treatment and has been discharged.

Police released a video on Friday showing teens wearing ski masks fleeing the station through the turnstile.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police department.

It is the latest slashing on the subway system that has been ridden with crime since many New Yorkers have resumed commuting to work as coronavirus cases drop.

Last week, a 45-year-old woman who got into an argument at a subway station in the Bronx was slashed in the face.
