Several people have been injured during a ‘suspected serious crime’ at a high-school in Malmö, Sweden’s third-largest city.
Pictures from the scene of the incident at Malmö Latin School show armed police entering the premises, while the area was being cordoned off.
One person has been arrested and two people have been rushed to hospital, the force confirmed an hour ago, adding that the situation is under control.
Headmaster Fredrik Hemmensjö described the incident as ‘absolutely awful’ but did not share more details on what exactly has happened.
A statement on the police website read: ‘The police are on site with a major resource in a school on Drottninggatan.
‘Several people are injured and the police are working on a suspected serious crime.
‘Several ambulances have been alerted to the scene via SOS Alarm. The event is in progress.’
An update shared 40 minutes later confirmed that two people have been hospitalised.
It added: ‘The police have no information about the injury situation, in this part reference is made to the health service.
‘One person has been arrested. Police are in control of the situation.’

The Aftonbladet newspaper reprted they were being kept inside the classrooms.
