Human remains found in park confirmed to be those of missing 27-year-old woman

The remains of a missing woman have been found hidden in bags in a country park three months after she disappeared.

Police launched a murder investigation after Ilona Golabek, 27, vanished from her home in Boston, Lincolnshire on November 9.

Kamil Ranoszek, 40, of Wormgate in Boston, was arrested two weeks later and charged with murder. He is currently awaiting trial at Lincoln Crown Court.

On Saturday, February 19, police were called to Witham Way Country Park following the discovery of suspected human remains.

Officers attended and recovered bones which were later confirmed to be human while specialist teams found other body parts in three other areas of the park.

The remains were sent off for DNA testing, with the results confirming they belonged to Ilona.

Today (Tue) Lincolnshire Police confirmed that suspected human remains were discovered at Witham Way Country Park in the town on February 19. In a statement released by Lincolnshire police on Tuesday, detective inspector Andy McWatt said: ‘We have located some body parts concealed in bags in the park since we started searching the area on February 19.

‘We remain in the park and are continuing to search the location. Ilona’s family are aware and our thoughts are with them.

‘We are continuing our appeal for witnesses, and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in or around the park to contact us.

‘We would like to thank the public for their continued support with our investigation. We will remain in the park for the remainder of the week.’

The force had previously released CCTV images of a woman who matched Ilona’s description, but the force since confirmed it was not her.
