A woman in her thirties was killed as a tree fell on the car she was in, as Storm Eunice battered London with high-speed winds.
The alarm was raised at around 4pm this afternoon in the northern borough of Haringey.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver – a man in his 30s – was taken to hospital. His condition is not thought to be life threatening.
Police believe they know her identity of the woman and her family have been informed.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: ‘My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the woman who tragically lost her life and the man who was seriously injured in Highgate this afternoon.
‘I’d like to pay tribute to all those in the emergency services who have been working tirelessly to keep us safe and urge all Londoners to remain cautious and avoid taking risks as this storm passes.’
The Met Office issued a rare red weather alert for London earlier today, as the storm overturned vehicles and ripped the roof of the O2 Arena to shreds.
A major incident was declared by the London Fire Brigade due to the sheer volume of 999 calls the service was receiving.
A man in his 50s also died this afternoon in Netherton, Merseyside after flying debris struck the windshield of the car in which he was a passenger.
The driver was left unhurt and no other vehicles were involved in the accident, police said.
Meanwhile a man in his 20s in Hampshire was killed as a falling tree crushed a pick-up van on the road.
It comes after a falling tree killed a council worker in County Wexford, Ireland, as he cleared up the debris left behind by the storm.
