A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder, following a stabbing in west London.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 7.34pm on Thursday, 30 December following reports of a stabbing in Yiewsley.
Paramedics found another 16-year-old male with a puncture wound but despite their efforts he was pronounced dead at 8.25pm on Philpotts Farm Open Space close to Heather Lane.
Formal identification of the victim is yet to take place but his family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
But on Sunday, January 2, detectives attended an address in Hillingdon where they arrested the alleged killer. He remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector James Shirley, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘While this arrest is a significant development in our investigation, we continue to fully explore all available lines of enquiry.
‘Our thoughts remain with the family of a young man who has lost his life to senseless violence.

‘I would urge anyone who has information and who has not yet spoken to the police to come forward. What you know could be the thing that makes the difference in this case.’
The incident comes at the end of a brutal year for knife crime in London, in which 30 teenage homicides were recorded in the capital.
A 15-year-old was also killed in Croydon on Thursday, meaning the grim milestone of 29 such deaths in 2008 was surpassed.
