New high-tech football boot insoles can now track how fast players run, how many passes they make and even how powerful their shots are.

The pioneering insoles contain sensors so the data is recorded and coaches can also use a connected app to see in real time how many touches a player has had and how far they have dribbled in a game.

The information could revolutionise coaching analysis and training.

Date collected by the insoles includes a players’ average speed, their acceleration and deceleration, ball touches, time on the ball, passes sent and received, dribbling distance, total distance travelled, and shot power which is measured using metres per second and G Force.

Created by Dutch company Jogo, the sensors record data 1,000 times per second, weigh just four grams, are waterproof and have a 30 hour battery life.

All of the data is transferred via Bluetooth to the app, where it can be viewed live on an onscreen dashboard by the coach.

The app also allows coaches to compare the performance of different players on the team.

The insoles need not be removed from players’ boots as the batteries can be charged via a cable that connects to them through a small opening.

David Dwinger, CEO and Founder of JOGO, said: ‘There used to be very little data usage in youth football, leading to every player being trained in the exact same way, which is not the best way to develop their performance.

‘With JOGO, we want to make the usage of data and technology accessible for each and every player no matter their circumstances.’

The insoles are currently available on pre-sale via Kickstarter, costing £70 for a pair. (Kickstarter)

He continued: ‘Our sensors will contribute to a more detailed understanding of a player’s development and improvement needs, which is key to their future success.

‘By giving players access to their own performance data, they will be more independent meaning that they will be less reliant on trainers and clubs.’

Head of marketing at Jogo, former Netherlands goalkeeper Laura Du Ry said: ‘We know we have a winning product that people will pay for.

‘We’re overwhelmed with positive reactions, and not just within the sports world. It shows that we’re on the right track to transform and revolutionise the future of football.’
