A woman who filmed herself sexually abusing a seven-year-old boy for the pleasure of online paedophiles has been jailed for more than six years.
Astrid Hilton, 62, subjected the boy to almost a year of abuse, using a webcam to broadcast her crimes to predators around the world.
One abuser even flew from Canada to molest the child at Hilton’s Northampton home.
She was caught when the boy, now in his twenties, reported her to the police.
Northampton Crown Court heard Hilton began preying on him in 2004.
She admitted nine counts including indecently assaulting a child and was jailed for six years and eight months on Friday.
Detective Sergeant Andrea Taylor, who led the investigation, said: ‘I am incredibly proud of the young man in this case who has shown courage beyond measure in reporting what happened to him as a boy to the police and seeing this case through to its end.
‘I will not refer to him as “Astrid Hilton’s victim” because he is so much more than that. He is a kind, strong, thoughtful and articulate man who has refused to have his life defined by the actions of depraved individuals like Hilton.’
DS Taylor hopes the sentencing will help him find closure.
‘As for Astrid Hilton,’ she added, ‘she is now where she belongs.
‘And when that cell door closes every night, I hope she feels disgusted with herself and remembers the prison in which she caged this young man the moment she laid a hand on him.
‘For nearly 16 years she thought she had escaped justice. But thanks to his bravery, we were able to get her in the end.’
