Police officer sprayed in face with unknown substance near Parliament

A manhunt has been launched after a police officer was sprayed in the face with an unknown substance near Parliament.

Officers are using a helicopter to search Westminster following the incident at around 8pm on Wednesday.

A suspect allegedly fled in the direction of Victoria Tower Gardens.

The cop suffered mild irritation to his face.

He was assessed by London Ambulance Service and not did require hospital treatment.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or any suspicious activity in the area, has been urged to come forward.
