A family devised a way for one of their members who tested positive for the coronavirus to still partake in their Christmas dinner – putting her in a transparent bubble tent.

Crista LaRock of Long Island, New York, said that her sister contracted Covid-19 before the holiday. Rather than the obvious move of uninviting her to their family dinner, relatives found a clear plastic bubble for her sit inside, at the head of the table.

‘My sister got Covid but we still wanted to safely include her in our holiday plans,’ LaRock told Storyful. ‘We included my sister in a way that worked for us!’

Crista shared a video of the family dinner, with Jingle Bell Rock playing in the background, to TikTok. It went viral, garnering more than 8.2million views and 537,000 likes in two days, according to the New York Post.

Her sister was seen sitting in a plastic chair inside the closet-sized bubble smiling, in some snaps wearing a mask and in others without it.

‘When your sister gets covid for Christmas…you get her a bubble!!!’ Crista wrote as the caption for the clip.

Everyone at the family dinner ‘live together and there were no extended family there’, Crista said.

Still, some social media users questioned the bubble’s effectiveness in containing the virus, and others wondered if it was safe for Crista’s sister to be inside.

Crista clarified that her sister ‘was in the bubble to eat and spend little amounts of time in’ and that ‘this is what we as a family chose to do’.

Critics aside, there were also social media users who appreciated the creative idea.

‘Tomorrow is never promised,’ a person commented. ‘This is awesome.’

Another approving observer wrote: ‘Don’t care what anyone else says. This is very sweet. Shows u guys are a very close family and love each other so much.’
