A 14-year-old boy is in hospital after being stabbed in front of horrified teachers and classmates in south Manchester.
It is understood the offender walked into the school and knifed the victim in the neck as pupils sat an exam.
Emergency services rushed to the incident at Manchester Academy in Moss Side at around 9.40am yesterday morning.
The boy was taken to hospital, where his injuries are understood to be serious but not life-threatening.
A 13-year-old male pupil was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article. Two other boys aged 13 and 12 were also arrested on suspicion of assault.
Greater Manchester Police said its officers will remain in the school to help make people on site feel safe.
United Learning Group, which runs Manchester Academy, has been contacted for comment.
