The late Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged madam Ghislaine Maxwell attended the wedding of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Kerry Kennedy in the early 1990s, a new tell-all revealed.
In her new book Trash: Encounters with Ghislaine Maxwell, Christina Oxenberg wrote that she met the accused sex-trafficker around the time of the Kennedy-Cuomo wedding. Oxenberg is a distant cousin of Prince Andrew, the royal accused of having sex with a teenage girl whom Epstein trafficked.
Friends and family gathered after the joining of the two political dynasties at Ethel Kennedy’s home in McLean, Virginia, where Oxenberg met Maxwell, according to The Sun.
‘The even-more-private lunch at Ethel’s home was attended only by family and some tag-along(s) with odd links to the bride or groom, such as myself,’ Oxenberg wrote. ‘And it was when the guests were all milling amiably before lunch and standing around between Hickory Hill House and the tent that I first met her.’
‘I was standing with my then-husband, Damian Elwes, a British painter when Ghislaine sauntered over. She and Damian burst with enthusiastic greetings,’ she wrote.
The two knew each other from their ‘Oxford days’, though her now-ex had never attended.
Their meeting was brief, and only included small talk, Oxenberg wrote, adding that she believes it was likely Kennedy who invited Maxwell to the festivities, rather than Cuomo.
‘He was simply the governor’s son in those days and little was known about him,’ she said.
A separate but shocking OK Magazine report linked Maxwell to the late John F Kennedy, whom she apparently referred to on numerous occasions as her ‘chief conquest’. The alleged hook-up was apparently a one-time situation, but happened around the same time as the Cuomo-Kennedy wedding.
Cuomo and Kennedy were married for 15 years before becoming embroiled in a bitter divorce in 2005. More recently, disgraced Cuomo was charged with groping a former aide in the governor’s mansion in Albany, New York’s capital.
The complaint would make for a maximum year in prison, and if convicted the 63-year-old would have to register as a sex offender. Before the criminal complaint, Cuomo had been accused of sexually harassing 11 women.
‘I never saw AC behave inappropriately,’ the author said, adding that, if anything, the former governor was ‘extremely unfriendly’.
Maxwell’s brother, Ian Maxwell, compared the public perception of his sister to the hot water Cuomo got into following numerous claims of sexual harassment in an interview with the Washington Post earlier this year.
‘I see that AOC has come out and said, “I believe these women”,’ he told the Post, using the shorthand for Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.
‘Well, how does she know that? Cuomo is entitled to have an investigation of his actions, just as Ghislaine is entitled to have one of hers.’
Ghislaine, the former lover of billionaire sex offender Epstein, will face six charges when she goes to trial later this year, among those being sex trafficking conspiracy and the sex trafficking of a minor.
She has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
