‘World’s biggest snake’ is so huge it had to be lifted by crane from rainforest

Incredible footage shows the moment a 10ft snake was hoisted off the ground by a digger.

The colossal beast appears to have been found by workers clearing part of the Dominica rainforest.

In the video, the astonished man filming can be heard saying: ‘My mother, what?’

The snake is alive as it’s lifted by the digger, but it is not clear what happened to it afterwards.

The video was posted by Tik Toker Fakrulazwa.

Another video shared on the same account shows the snake crammed in a cage with a man attempting to pull it out and move it into a car boot.

Several people join in to help lift the heavy beast, which is eventually tucked into the back of the car.

The videos have been viewed millions of times after being shared on social media.

Reddit users expressed their amazement at the size of the snake on the crane.

One said: ‘That looks like some world record s**t.’

Another posted: ‘For real. That thing’s actually jumbo.’

It is not clear what type of snake it was.

Dominica has been dubbed ‘the Nature Island’ thanks to its array of wildlife.

Native to the island is the deadly boa constrictor, which can grow up to 13ft.

The largest snakes in the world belong to the python and boa families.

The longest snake ever recorded was a reticulated python found in 1912 measuring 10 metres (32ft). That is more than half the length of a bowling lane and longer than a giraffe is tall, according to the Natural History Museum.

Reticulated pythons are usually found in rainforests around southeast Asia.

While they can grow to huge lengths, they tend to be slender compared to the likes of Green anacondas – the heaviest snakes in the world.

The heaviest anaconda ever recorded was 227 kilograms (35 stone). The huge snake was 8.43 metres long, with a girth of 1.11 metres.
