Woman and man found dead at home after going ‘undiscovered for weeks’

The bodies of a woman and a man who are believed to have been dead for ‘a number of weeks’ have been discovered. 

West Mercia Police are treating the deaths of the 45-year-old woman and 57-year-old man found at a house in Redditch, Worcestershire, as ‘unexplained’.

Officers received a ‘concern for welfare’ report at a house in Hawthorn Road shortly after 4.30pm on Thursday.

One neighbour said: ‘The house was rented accommodation with residents frequently changing.

‘The two people hadn’t lived there for that long but kept themselves to themselves.’

The area has been cordoned off and officers have been conducting house-to-house enquiries as part of their investigation.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: ‘Officers received a report concerned for the welfare of a person at a property in Hawthorn Road, Redditch.

‘Officers and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene and sadly two people had died.

‘The deceased, a 45-year-old woman and 57-year-old man, had been dead for a number of weeks and their deaths are currently being treated as unexplained.

‘House-to-house inquiries are being carried out and a cordon has been put in place while investigation work continues. Officers remain at the scene.’
