When are the school holidays in 2021 and 2022?

We’re well into autumn now, which means that across the country kids have been enjoying a well-earned half-term break.

And it comes at a time when families can make the most of the relaxing of travel restrictions and jet off to somewhere sunnier, or embrace the season by carving pumpkins ready for Halloween – or, if neither of those appeal, heading off on a family day out.

Of course, students only have a week to relax and rejuvenate ahead of the second half of term – but the next holiday isn’t that far away either.

Just when is the next break – and when are the rest of the school holidays in 2022?

When are the school holidays in 2021 and 2022?

Children will then return to school from half-term on Monday 1 November, breaking up for Christmas around Friday 17 December, for around two weeks.

The spring term will commence around Tuesday January 4 2022.

These are the remaining dates for school holidays in England and Wales over the coming year:

Autumn term 2021

  • Christmas holiday: Monday 20 December – Monday 3 January 2021

Spring term 2022

  • Half term holiday: Monday 14 February – Friday 18 February 2022
  • Easter holiday: Monday 4 April – Monday 18 April 2022

Summer term 2022

  • Half term holiday: Monday 30 May – Friday 3 June 2022 (includes the two-day bank holiday for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee)
  • Summer holiday: Monday July 25 – Wednesday 31 August

It is advisable to double check with your local council or with your local school to confirm the exact dates of the school holidays in 2021, as term dates can vary depending on the region and educational institution.
