Kate and William shared behind-the-scenes photos of themselves displaying rarely-seen affection for one another.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were captured by royal photographer Chris Jackson – who is married to Kate’s friend and stylist Natasha Archer.

Mr Jackson was photographing the couple at the Earthshot Prize Awards on Sunday – where five organisations are given £1 million to continue to develop their idea to fight climate change.

One picture shows Kate’s hand intimately placed on William’s back, while the parents stare lovingly into each other’s eyes.

These physical exhibitions of love are few and far between for the Cambridges – who seem to observe the Queen reportedly asking her family to hold back on public displays of affection.

Some have said it looks as if Kate and William, and perhaps their photographer, have drawn inspiration from Meghan and Harry’s style.

Whenever the Duke and Duchess of Sussex make big public announcements, they tend to do so with loving, black and white photos.

This was seen most recently when the couple announced that Meghan was pregnant with their second child Lilibet at the beginning of this year.

They released one black and white photograph of a pregnant Meghan lying on the grass with her head in Harry’s lap and one with Harry holding his wife and she cradles their son Archie.

When the Sussexes announced their engagement back in 2017, they were already much more physically affectionate with each other than other members of the Royal Family.

In one black and white picture, Meghan models her ring by holding her hand against Harry’s face while he has pulled her into an embrace in his coat.

And in another, Meghan is photographed hanging onto Harry’s arm as the two walk and laugh.

Kate and William were also captured laughing together on Sunday.

In one heartwarming photo, the couple is seen emerging from a curtain smiling and chatting to each other.

Keeping with the theme of the event, Kate recycled her outfit and wore the Alexander McQueen dress she wore at the Bafta reception in Los Angeles in 2011.

The event welcomed many esteemed speakers, including David Attenborough and of course Prince William.

He said: ‘The future is ours to determine, and if we set our minds to it, nothing is impossible. I want to say something to all the young people watching tonight.

‘For too long, we haven’t done enough to protect the planet for your future. But Earthshot is for you. In the next ten years we are going to act. We are going to find the solutions to repair our planet. ‘
