Sixty firefighters battle huge blaze at plastic recycling plant

Alarming footage shows black smoke billowing into the air after a huge fire broke out at a plastics recycling facility in Wales.

More than 60 firefighters rushed to the scene at Capital Valley Plastics on Saturday night.

Flames could be seen for miles as the blaze erupted at around 9.40pm in Blaenavon, Torfaen.

Locals were warned to keep their doors and windows closed due to ‘large smoke plume’.

No one was injured in the fire, which was bought under control around 2am this morning.

Two fire engines and a high-volume pump were used to fight the flames.

South Wales Fire and Rescue are carrying out an inspection.

There is expected to be travel disruption in the area today as Gwent Police close the road to deal with the aftermath.
