Footage has emerged of a police officer appearing to punch a teenager under arrest while the suspect was already restrained on the ground.
Two officers were restraining the boy in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, just after 9pm on Friday.
As one officer kneels on him, the other appears to punch him in the face, causing his head to thud against the pavement.
They then fix handcuffs on the boy’s wrist as he is heard to say: ‘You’re battering me.’
The officers are believed to have been assaulted while responding to a report of a 17-year-old male going missing from his home.
A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The incident was filmed by a bystander who appears to have been one of several witnesses.
North Yorkshire Police had earlier urged anyone witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident, which took place on the street of Eastborough, to come forward.
