This is the moment a man appears to pull out a blade on another driver as the UK’s fuel crisis rumbles on.

Video footage circulating social media shows the man shouting at the motorist through their car window while brandishing what looks like a knife.

Cars can be seen clogging up the road as panic buyers desperately try to enter a petrol station in Welling, southeast London.

The confronted driver is then seen ramming into the alleged knifeman, throwing him onto the car’s bonnet.

As the driver finally finds some space to reverse away, the assailant kicks their car and damages the wing mirror.

Police said they were called to the scene yesterday at around 2.37pm yesterday afternoon and that enquiries are still ongoing.

A spokesman told The Sun: ‘Officers attended and found no trace of either vehicle. No injuries were reported and no suspects were identified.

‘We are aware of footage online which appears to show the incident and will review this as part of our ongoing enquiries.’

That same afternoon, a fight broke out in Epping, Essex, during an argument among drivers desperate for petrol.

Footage shows five men, three of whom wore hi-vis jackets, could be seen punching each other as motorists beeped their horns.

Britain’s petrol crisis is not to do with a shortage of fuel, but a lack of HGV drivers has made it difficult delivering it to stations.

The army has been put on standby, with military drivers to be given specialised training in case they need to use petrol tankers.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said: ‘The men and women of our armed forces stand ready to alleviate the transport pressures where they are felt most.

‘That is why I have authorised their increased preparedness so they are ready to respond if needed.’
