A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a traffic cone in east London.

The victim, in his 30s, is fighting for his life after the incident on Saturday night in Station Approach in Barking.

He was given first aid by police on the scene before being rushed to hospital shortly after 8.30pm.

A probe has been launched to find the man who threw the cone.

No arrests have been made and enquires are ongoing.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 8.59pm yesterday (4 September) to reports of an assault on Station Parade, Barking.

‘We sent an ambulance crew and two medics in cars. A man was treated at the scene and taken to a major trauma centre as a priority.’
