Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want you to look at their website – but not for more than 20 minutes at a time.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell platform now pops up with a message for readers suggesting they take a screen break.
‘We love having you here,’ the advice explains. ‘But we’re mindful of screen time.’
‘Why not take a break? We’ll be here.’
The Archewell brand – which the couple say aims to ‘unleash the power of compassion to drive systemic cultural change’ – has often focused on mental and physical health.
Screen breaks are known to be important for a number of reasons, including increasing attention span, with the UK’s Health and Safety Executive advising people to ‘take short breaks often’.
It comes after a makeover of Harry and Meghan’s website, which features links to a number of projects that the couple are involved with.
One, with the Center for Humane Technology, explains: ‘As we increasingly understand the direct link between technology and its effect on each of us — online and offline — Archewell Foundation will continue to prioritize critical work around the state of our digital world.’
The couple stood down as senior working royals last year and have faced a tense relationship with other members of the Royal Family since.
On Wednesday, it emerged that his cousin Zara’s husband Mike Tindall said the Royals were so angry with Harry that they ‘wanted to punch him’.
But they see their Archewell project as one way to promote compassionate change across the world, explaining: ‘We do this through our non-profit work… in addition to creative activations through the business verticals of audio and production.’
