A teenager has been arrested on suspicion over the death of an 86-year-old army veteran who was assaulted outside his home.

Officers were called to The Paddock in Fulwood, Preston at around 3pm on Friday and found Frank Fishwick with a facial injury later diagnosed as a fractured nose.

He was rushed to hospital but passed away the following morning.

Mr Fishwick’s family paid tribute to him as an ‘adored father and grandfather’ who ‘brought cheer to many’.

Post-mortem examinations found the cause of death to be a consequence of his injuries, according to ITV News.

The suspect, a 19-year-old male from Preston, was taken into custody on Sunday.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who has information they think might help to get in touch.

DCI Allen Davies added: ‘I would also ask people to check their CCTV or dashcam footage from around the area to see if they have captured anything which could assist our enquiries.
