It seems like only yesterday that the school summer holidays began, but they’re already at an end as pupils across England, northern Ireland and Wales return for the new academic year.

Schools have already returned in Scotland, which has seen a significant rise in Covid cases in recent weeks – particularly among 16-19-year-olds – leading to concern that there could be a surge in cases once the rest of the UK returns.

With under18s now exempt from self-isolation if they come into contact with a positive case, it’s hoped this school year may be less disruptive than the last one – with measures also being put in place to try and keep case numbers down.

And while the holidays may be over for now, it’s not too long until the next break.

So just when are the school holidays in the 2021-2022 academic year?
