A five-year-old found dead in a river has been described as ‘the kindest boy you could ever wish to meet’.
Tributes are pouring in for the young victim, named locally as Logan Williamson, while police question a man, woman and 13-year-old boy under suspicion of his murder.
Logan was found in the River Ogmore, running 400 yards from his front door in Bridgend, Wales, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Dozens of officers including forensic teams and police divers have been scouring the playing field and paths leading from the family home.
Police say they are continuing to investigate how Logan ended up in the water as ‘there are a lot of people in the local community who would like answers about what happened to him.’
Paying tribute to the ‘cheeky chap’, one woman said: ‘He was the kindest boy you could ever wish to meet. He had a lovely mischievous smile and was a cheeky chap.
‘He would often be outside with his mum and their little baby and always looked so happy.’
Neighbour Frederick Witchell, 78, added: ‘He seemed like such a nice little boy. It’s very sad.
‘The police have been here all day again today, but they are not telling us anything.’
Friend Jodie Simmonds appealed for anyone wishing to pay tribute to Logan to leave soft toys on a bridge by the river.
Writing on Facebook she said: ‘If you wish to pay your respects for the recent tragedy at Sarn Pandy Park River, to please place teddy’s at the lamppost and small foot bridge.
‘I ask that everyone please respect the privacy of the family at this horrendous time. R.I.P sweet angel.’
A force spokeswoman said: ‘South Wales Police can confirm that following reports of concerns for a missing 5 year old boy in Sarn, Bridgend, and the subsequent finding of the body in the Ogmore River near Pandy Park, three people have been arrested.
‘A 39 year male, 30 year female and 13 year old male, all from the Bridgend area, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody. We are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident.
‘Anyone who has any information in relation to the incident can contact the Major Crime Team directly.’
Shocked neighbours previously told how they were woken to screams coming from outside the family home on the terraced row of flats.
One neighbour said: ‘I could hear the mum screaming for her son.
‘She was shouting “the back door was open” and calling for him.
‘A short while later the old bill turned up and they’ve been here ever since.’
