A power cut to 195 homes was caused today by an illegal cannabis factory nearby.
Residents in Blackpool were affected by the outage at 10.23am.
Blackpool Police tweeted a photo of engineers digging up a pavement to access a faulty cable.
They wrote: ‘Electricity North West are currently fixing a fault caused by a cannabis farm.
‘195 homes in the Westmorland Avenue area are without power. This fault should be fixed within the next few hours.
‘Cannabis farms are dangerous and can cost lives.’
Power was restored to the homes around 5pm.
A spokesperson for the electricity provider said the blackout was related to an unexpected problem with an underground cable.
The spokesperson told locals: ‘We didn’t know before your electricity went off that this was going to happen but now we know, rest assured we will get your power back on safely and as quickly as possible.
‘With underground power cuts, we may need to dig to repair the cable and this can sometimes extend the length of time you are without power.’
