Another 24,470 new Covid cases have been reported as infections continue to fall across the UK.
A total of 65 deaths have been recorded in the last 24-hour period, according to the Department of Health.
Today’s figures continue the recent downward trend of Covid cases – down from 26,144 infections and 71 fatalities recorded on Saturday.
This marks a 30% decrease in cases in the last seven days.
Although the number of deaths are lower today than yesterday, they have crept up by almost 17% in the last week – jumping from 447 fatalities to 525.
Figures are usually lower over the weekend, particularly on Sundays, due to a lag in reporting.
The latest figures show 911 people were admitted to hospital with the virus on July 27, marking an almost 15% increase on the week before – though the rate of new admissions have begun to slow.
Data shows that another 38,858 people have received their first dose of the jab in the last 24 hours, while 212,159 had their second.
This means that 72.5% of the UK adult population is fully inoculated against the virus, while 88.6% has received one dose.
